Protest Art

The way an artist decides to perceived wrongs is a moral question each has to deal with. The degree with which they pursue their response is also a moral one. While some artists work best in groups "The Gueriila Girlz", which may also say they feel the most comfortable or safe some like Keith Haring and banks work alone or their name is held accountable. Some artists may work in a style that is not overtly confrontational like Fritz Scholder One of our greatest Navaho Painters merely depicted single images of Indians. They were large and strong and rooted in "painterly traditions".

But, who was the first, "GUY" to make a statement about a perceived wrong? Daumier with his political cartoons? The French Barbizon School? Its a question worth exploring but not here. Here are images, Some you may disagree with so, we start a conversation. But I believe everyone should make a statement in their own way.
